The gas-phase detection system we developed with my colleagues was published in the Journal of Analytical Chemistry in January 2014. By using the properties of surface wetting the devices creates discrete micro-volumes for chemical analysis without the need for expensive microfabrication. This allows for continuous monitoring of gaseous flows by taking away time-consuming sample preconcentration steps.
